Tha staff were always on hand, regardless of the time of day. I always found them to behave over and beyond the call of service.
The Hotel was perhaps a tad cold, even for our scottish temprament.

It was a one night short stay during our trip from north Scotland to London, so not a long stay. Hotel staff was friendly.
Poor location, dont go there for a longer holiday. The bathroom was extremely bad and dirty. It looked very old and sad place.

My stay with my wife at the Stewart Hotel, was one of the worst experiences of my life, the room was less than average, the breakfast in the morning had to be seen to be believed. The dirty dishes from the Bus trip were left uncleared on the tables. The other guests had to clear the tables before they could find somewhere to sit, even then the tables were not wiped before the clean dishes were laid. To be honest I can only say that standerds at this Hotel could not be any lower. Hotel inspectors should pay it a call, and you should strike it from your list.

Convenient location for my pirposes
Amateur staff who had poor English and had not been trained. Poor food. Pervasive smell of stale curry in reception.Etc.

We all loved the staff, they were great with my daughter who is 7 months. They were really pleasant and the rooms were nice and big, I slept like a baby. And so did my baby!
The breakfasts could be bigger (although plenty of toast and cereal) and the TV reception could be better.

We came to the restaurant after a large group of tourists. Tables were not cleaned up after them and it was really not very pleasant to eat surrounded by food rests, spilled orange juice and ketchup.

I did not like the live wires sticking out of the television connection or the fact that we had no electricity one arrival. It was fixed the next morning. Staff were very unhelpful. After waiting until 11 we had to pay for coffee for our supper and went to bed only because I took candles from the bar to light the room.

Beautiful location. Pleasant and helpful reception staff
Fawlty Towers comes to mind - reception staff were very helpful BUT dining and kitchen staff had to be searched for. Half an hour after a coach party had left the dining room was still a mess of uncleared breakfast tables. Wine list came after entree finished - even though we were the only couple dining at 7pm. Food uninviting. Gardens were lovely but overgrown. Lime green bathrooms.

The hotel location is good and the staff aim to please even though the standards are Bangladeshi rather than British. The food was acceptable but the evening meal at £19.99 seemed expensive. The general hotel standards were as expected from the web-site information, apart from the comments below I would use this hotel again.
I had booked for 4 nights but was out-booked for 2 of these nights, once at Fort William in a cheaper hotel and once at a local house. There was no reduction in tariff. The most annoying part and as yet unresolved was that the full cost of the 4 nights stay was deducted as the reservation was made and before I had even arrived at the hotel, unknown to me. As normal the bill was settled in full on the stay completion and only on returning home was the double charge identified. This is not acceptable use of credit card details and I await the hotel's response.

In spite of their obvious lack of training, staff members did their best to be friendly and comforting
We didn't like the ferocious peacock going beserk and assaulting our car (or its own reflection in it) and damaging the paint, the lack of professionalism from staff, the cost of dinner, the tiny old fashionned TV, the unkempt garden, the cramped bathroom in which setting the temperature of water requires a degree in engeneering.
